Thousands of WoW Players Resubbed to Reclaim Character Names
With the upcoming Warlords of Draenor pre-patch (6.0.2), any characters that have not logged into the game since November 13, 2008 will have their names freed up, making them available to anyone creating a new character or using the paid Character Name Change service.
After this announcement, no less than 5.000 World of Warcraft players resubscribed just to keep their precious names available. Most of them are former elitists who don’t want to lose anything, not even a level 1 Hunter character named Maurice.
“I’ve got an old level 10 Human Priest named Obamacare on Outland realm created long before Obama’s first election. Now this character is priceless and not even a few bucks won’t stop me from having it!”, said one resubbed player.
Here is a small list with some of the names for which most of the players have resubbed: Ipwnnubz, Kissmyheals, Cyanerdz, Yoloswag, Britneyfears, Geschlechtsverkehr, Snipeyaass, Digbick, Bytchking, Bankman, Yunub, Nubzor, Fagglord, Fatlulz, Cakecum, Ikillyoucry, Soloboss, Bombfart, Retardin and the list can go on.
Meanwhile, Blizzard enjoys launching such a campaign and hopes that more people return to the beloved game.
